     The I.H.R.D. is registered under the Society act and came into existence on 28th January 1987. The management is controlled by an executive committee. The governing body and executive committee are organized as follows.

       IHRD Institutions

                   The IHRD carries out its mission tasks through a network comprising the central headquarters at       Thiruvananthapuram and a host of associate institutions spread all over Kerala. The associate institutions consist of Regional Centers, Engineering Colleges, Colleges of Applied Sciences, Polytechnics and Technical Institutions,thus catering to the entire gamut of technical education system.

      Model Polytechnic, Vadakara

                    The Government of Kerala, having recognized the inherent flexibility enjoyed by the IHRD in the matter of implementing various projects, decided to entrust it with the task of expanding the academic base of professional education in Kerala. The first assignment was the starting of the Model Polytechnic at Vatakara during the academic year 1988-89.
