HISTORY

                 The phenomenal growth of contemporary technology and hi-tech applications during the recent past has created an acute shortage of trained personnel having the requisite level of competence. Though this problem has been discussed at various forums, governmental checks and regulations have often been serious hindrances especially in Kerala. The plan for alternative to disengage from the constraints at various forums, governmental checks and regulations was to promote an institution with built in flexibility, functioning however under the watchful eyes of government machinery. This philosophy was translated into action by Government of Kerala and the outcome was establishment of an autonomous institution called the Institute of Human Resource Development in 1987. The multi-campus and multi-inter-disciplinary institute is composite approach to human resource development in the scientific and technical fields. While autonomy for the institute has enabled adequate flexibility and urgency in operations, the fundamental principal of accountability has not been lost sight of. The organization and system of management have been configured accordingly.

      The institute is dedicated to scientific advancement, technical progress and economical   growth the    country   through human resource development. It shall endeavor to adhere to the principal "Think Globally and Act Locally" so that compulsions of the nation's welfare are firmly entwined with and embedded in the world-wide goals of society.

         To provide education and training of consistency high standards through innovative ad versatile programmes that are responsive to the current and emerging needs of the community.

        To ensure that the aim of education is realized not only in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, but also in the attainment of wisdom and judgment indispensable to their proper application.

        To provide leadership and support in ensuring lifelong learning, which promotes the total development of the individual and the society in which the person functions.

        To pursue optimal and flexible systems management concepts and techniques for fulfillment of institutional objects and aspirations.

        To empower those interested to benefit, by making use of the knowledge, experience and expertise gained by the institute.

       The initial days were spent at a rented site by the side of the state NH, but soon the activities we shifted to a permanent and own setup. All the basic necessary infrastructure was crated in the shortest possible time and since then the institution has grown into a full fledged education center offer quality education in diploma level studies
